The movie was about another adventure endured by Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. Camp Half-Blood was the place where all the demigods gather to train and it was the only place safe for them or rather it was their home. Percy was called by Chiron the activities director at Camp Half-Blood. Chiron is a centaur. Then he gave the news to Percy about having a half brother. Tyson, also a son of Poseidon, is a Cyclops. Many of the half-bloods see Tyson different than the others because of him having only one eye. Later the camp was attacked by a mechanical bull which was sent by Luke, son of Hermes, who is plotting to destroy Mount Olympus. It was discovered that Luke poisoned Thalia, daughter of Zeus, the responsible one for the barrier protecting the camp.
“The Adventure Begins”
Annabeth finds out that the Golden Fleece can restore the life of their friend Thalia that is why their camp director Dionysus sends Clarisse out on a quest to find the said object. Percy then set’s off with Annabeth , Tyson and Grover on their own journey. Before they left camp, the oracle prophesies that a half-blood child of one of the three prime gods will fight Luke, and the half blood will have the chance to either save Mount Olympus or destroy it. Since he is the only known living half-blood son of the three prime gods, he assumes that the prophecy must refer to him.
As they go on with their mission Annabeth had this idea of calling the three blind witches who happen to know the coordinates of the island. After, Grover was captured by Luke’s men; they went to Hermes, Luke’s father, to ask where his son is. He tells them that he is in an ocean liner in the Atlantic Ocean called the Andromeda. They went there and happened to discover that Grover was not with Luke; they escaped using one of the life boats towards the Sea of Monsters. They were swallowed by a huge and enormous monster and inside the stomach they found Clarisse and her men of zombies. Percy came up with a plan on how to get out of its stomach; they succeeded. They continued their journey where they could find Grover and the Cyclops named Polyphemus. He is the one guarding the Golden Fleece and is using it to lure satyrs to eat for it is known to naturally draw their kind to it. They fought the Cyclops together and succeeded. As they were heading out of the cave Luke and his men were waiting outside to take the Golden Fleece. Luke offered Percy to join him in destroying Mount Olympus together but Percy declined and Luke tried to kill him. Tyson sacrifices himself to protect Percy from the crossbow bolt fired by Luke and stole the Golden Fleece which he needed in order to awaken the Titan Kronos. Tyson then returns because having contact with water healed him to rescue the others. Luke succeeded in awakening Kronos. Percy then realized that his magic sword is prophesied to be Kronos’s only weakness. He killed Kronos and stopped him from destroying the world by slicing him from his chest down to his feet. After they have defeated Kronos, Annabeth was stabbed in the back by the Manticore before being killed by Grover and Clarisse, Percy then used the Golden Fleece to revive her. They then returned to camp and with them the Golden Fleece, used it to save Thalia and unexpectedly gave her her life back. Now, Percy realizes that the prophecy could perhaps refer to Thalia and Mount Olympus’s fate lies in the hand of Thalia’s and not his.
Personally, I can say that the movie is really nice but not as nice as the first of the series, (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief). It is because in my opinion, the story was kind of predictable where Kronos will rise again and their group will be the one who would save the day. But other than those, I can also say that there are new characters introduced who are really cool. One of them is Tyson which is a Cyclops, the other one named Clarisse who is the demigod daughter of Ares, also one of the top demigods, and Thalia the demigod daughter of Zeus and “protector” of Camp Half Blood.
I hope the next movie to be released in the series would really be a bang, with unexpected twists and amazing special effects. It is because the audience, like me, would love the series more if those would be executed and seen. All in all, the movie was nice. 🙂 but not really that awesome. 😀
